The Jacobson's Organ

The cat picture is courtesy of " mauzlover " from flickr.

The Jacobson's organ - in Latin - vomeronasal organ,  is a cat (and many other animals) olfactory sense organ. Discovered in 1813 by Ludvig Jacobson.

It is a sense that human doesn't have. A sense that is between the olfactory sense and the sense of taste.

The Jacobson's organ is connected to the tip of the cat's upper palate and it transfer sensations to the sexual centers of his/hers brain.

The cat's Jacobson organ - vomeronasal organ sketch is from wikipedia.
